The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) has announced that it will be opening a local office in Kyiv on October 10th. This move is aimed at assisting Japan-affiliated companies in contributing to the economic reconstruction of the region. According to JETRO, there are currently around 40 Japan-affiliated companies, including manufacturers and wholesalers, operating in Ukraine. To facilitate their operations, JETRO will assign a permanent staff member to the Kyiv office who will be responsible for gathering business-related information and connecting Japanese companies with local businesses.
The establishment of this office was mentioned during the Joint Communique of the Japan-Ukraine Conference for Promotion of Economic Growth and Reconstruction held in Tokyo earlier this year. Ukraine has shown promising growth potential in the field of information and communication technology, with numerous start-ups emerging in recent years. The country has also actively participated in information and telecommunications-related exhibitions held in Japan, fostering expectations for collaboration with Japanese-affiliated companies.
In addition to supporting these technological advancements, JETRO aims to assist Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts through its support for small and medium enterprises. By providing resources and guidance to these businesses, JETRO hopes to contribute further to Ukraine’s economic development.
this move by JETRO signifies its commitment towards strengthening economic ties between Japan and Ukraine while promoting mutual growth opportunities for both countries’ businesses.
